Congratulations Nathan White

Congratulations Nathan White

On Monday night (9 December 2024) at the Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) Presentation Dinner, Nathan was presented with the John Kinghorn memorial trophy for 2024. This award is presented annually to a deserving recipient who embodies the values that John championed: a dedication to junior golf and an outstanding character both on and off the course.

This award is great recognition for Nathan who has been a long time junior golfer at Yowani.

The following is an extract from the presentation speech made by Harry Whitelock (a Royal Canberra member and peer of Nathan’s) in presenting the award on behalf of the Kinghorn family at the Presentation Dinner.

The John Kinghorn Memorial Trophy is not necessarily awarded to the best golfer, but rather to one of the best people in Jack Newton Junior Golf. The recipient is someone who is well-liked by their peers, respected by both staff and volunteers, and known for their great personality and sportsmanship.

Much like John, who supported junior golf in many different ways for so many years, this year’s winner has demonstrated the same commitment. A long-time member of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, he has participated in every tournament we offer, giving his all to improve his game. Although he may not always have been in the spotlight on the course, he has consistently performed at a high level and, more importantly, has been a true standout in our community.

This year’s John Kinghorn Memorial Trophy is awarded to someone who has shown immense dedication, passion, and kindness – my great mate, who I’ve had the pleasure of playing more rounds of golf with than anyone in the A.C.T. It gives me great pleasure to award the John Kinghorn Memorial Trophy to Nathan White.

Congratulations Nathan – all Yowani members and staff are proud of you.
