The program provides excellent coaching and playing opportunities. However, while winning is celebrated it does not overshadow the program focus on:

  • enjoying the game;
  • learning how to play golf safely and properly;
  • abiding by and learning about rules and etiquette;
  • being on your best behaviour, having good manners and being respectful to all (especially the volunteer walkers);
  • persevering and being self-disciplined while playing;
  • meeting new friends and enjoying their company.

AGF Yowani Girls Scholarship Program 2022 – Graduation Ceremony

 This program is run in conjunction with the Australian Golf Foundation (AGF) and Golf Australia (GA). Yowani was one of the inaugural clubs funded by GA as part of a pilot program in 2021. The girls on scholarship in 2022 were: Yazmin Black, Tessa Colquhoun, Sophie Carey, Amity Horton, Jolie Mcloughlin and Poppy-Rose Summerrell. The girls had a great year of activities including 25 hours of coaching from Sam, playing 9-hole competitions with Yowani Women mentors during school holidays. Five of the girls have attained their GA Handicap, some are playing in regular club competitions with family members, Tessa and Yazmin represented Yowani in Junior Pennant earlier this year. Most importantly they are enjoying the friendship with one another and learning the great game of golf.

The final activity for 2022 was a two person Ambrose played with a Yowani Women mentor followed by refreshments and presentation of certificates of completion.
